London Boat on the Thames Wedding | Vicky & Peter

As wedding photographers with many years experience shooting at destinations worldwide, we thought we’d seen it all – until Vicky & Peter asked us to cover their special day on the Thames Luxury Charters boat the Elizabethan.  We’d jumped at the chance for this fairytale wedding on the Thames in London, and are so excited to add it to our Wedding Venues Spotlight series.  Please see below for more info about this wonderful London paddle boat with a glorious history, as well as our highlights from Vicky & Peter’s wedding photography.

ELIZABETHAN BOAT – A BEAUTIFUL WEDDING IN LONDON ON THE THAMES RIVER

The Elizabethan is a dream wedding venue in London on the Thames, a stunningly beautiful replica of an 1890s stern-wheeled Mississippi paddle steamer.  This boat is constantly in demand to be hired for boat trips on the Thames and is becoming a popular wedding venue in its own right! We agree with Thames Luxury Charters (TLC) when they say that as wedding possibilities go: “the Elizabethan is in a class of her own.”

With a huge Capacity of up to 235 Guests, the Elizabethan can match any traditional land based wedding venue, with fine dining for up to 140 Guests, and a seated buffet possible for up to 124 guests. The upper deck is perfectly sized (with a permanent bar) for wedding receptions, allowing ample space for the first dance and for guests to mingle.  The large retractable roof also makes it possible to dance below the stars!  A half-million pound refit in 2013 lead to the installation of huge windows to allow stunning panoramic views of the Thames, as well as wooden panelling and other classy ornamentation.

Vicky & Peter had a million ideas for their wedding – and it was so exciting during the timeline consultation and venue walk-around to consider them all! We had considered using the Greenwich Maritime Museum for their wedding photos, as well as Canary Wharf, however with time constraints on docking times for the Elizabethan Paddle Boat it made the most sense to use Greenwich Park and the beautiful Cutty Sark as creative backdrops for their portraits before boarding at Greenwich Pier.

The weather was typically English in Spring, with heavy cloud periods followed by very sunny spells! Luckily as seasoned professional photographers Mykey and his team were able to deal with everything the glorious English weather could throw at them!  Please see below for some of our favourites!
