Laura & Colin first met us at a wedding fair where they were excited to hear that we were already shooting a wedding in Malta!  They jumped at the chance to meet us on this beautiful island for an engagement session before booking us for their big 2019 wedding at the Grand Hotel Excelsior in Valetta.  Their dream Maltese wedding had many cool facets (the Maltese buses, the beautiful church in the centre of Valetta, and the fantastic reception venue at the Excelsior), so it was an honour and a privilege to document their most special day together!

The Grand Hotel Excelsior is a large luxury wedding in Floriana and Valetta and easily one of the most Romantic wedding hotels we have seen! The Grand Hotel Excelsior offers several wedding ceremony and reception options for large or small weddings in Malta. The Panoramic views from inside the hotel as well as from the wedding reception balconies are stunning – and the accommodation for your guests is equally spectacular in this 5 star hotel.

Located in Valletta which is Malta’s capital city, wedding guests have a short walk to the high street and the historical centre. Valletta boasts many tourist sites and attractions for wedding guests and include the Palace, the Cathedral, the bustling high street with shops and restaurants, museums, the Manoel Theatre, as well as a bustling but classy nightlife. Valetta is a UNESCO world heritage city.

Maltese Summer Wedding Photography

Laura & Colin’s fabulous wedding started with the Lads Lads Lads getting ready in one of the hotel guest rooms, followed by a leisurely stroll past the Tiki Village and along the hotel marina.  Colin’s best men were a lot of fun and we were soon cracking jokes and making all the hotel guests wonder what on earth was going on!  Soon after we joined Laura in her room with her beautiful bridesmaids and mother for some pre-wedding portraits and fun photos.   Soon it was dad’s turn to see the bride and he waited at the bottom of the famous Grand Hotel Excelsior Staircase for his first glimpse of that beautiful bride.
 
The Church ceremony in the centre of Valetta was equally opulent with fantastic frescos and beautiful architecture as the backdrop to the “I dos”…  After a few group photos in front of the altar, the guests headed on a touristic sightseeing trip of Malta in the specially planned traditional Maltese buses whilst Laura & Colin grabbed a few creative and fun wedding photos in Valetta centre and back at the hotel.
 
When the guests arrived back they prepared for the arrival of bride and groom with confetti in the traditional wedding manner! Followed by drinks and canapes before the big dinner.  We just had time to pop back to the spectacular staircase in the hotel for some more group photos with the bridesmaids and groomsmen before heading back to dinner.
 
Sunset soon approached and Laura & Colin were on a mission to get some spectacular sunset photos on the glorious hotel marina! They were tempted by a cheeky Tiki before heading back to the wedding reception for some fun and funny toasts and speeches, before the big band and first dance.
