What an incredible day for Fran and Josh’s wedding at Brookfield Barn! As a Sussex Wedding Photographer, it’s always a privilege to capture love stories that are not only beautiful but filled with personality, laughter, and genuine emotion. From their romantic proposal under the Norwegian sky to their elegant and joy-filled celebration in the heart of Sussex, this was a day that truly reflected who they are as a couple.

Fran and Josh’s love story began back in October 2018 at a Halloween party — the kind of serendipitous meeting that starts with a little fun and ends with forever. From that first encounter, their connection grew naturally, leading them through adventures, laughter, and a proposal that could rival any movie scene.

Josh had big plans for his proposal — a magical moment under the Northern Lights in Norway. But as any Sussex Wedding Photographer knows, the most memorable moments are often the ones that don’t go entirely to plan! The Northern Lights decided not to make an appearance that evening, but that didn’t stop Josh. Instead, he proposed on the deck of a dinner cruise, just the two of them under a starry sky. The next day they went whale watching — an unforgettable and wildly romantic experience that perfectly captured their adventurous spirit.

Fast forward to their wedding day at Brookfield Barn, one of the most beautiful countryside venues for Wedding Photography in Sussex. Fran and her bridesmaids arrived bright and early at 9am to begin hair and makeup in the cosy bridal suite overlooking the lake. There was an air of excitement as everyone prepared for the big moment. Meanwhile, Josh was getting ready on-site too — allowing for some great pre-ceremony shots that really tell the story of both sides of the morning. After the ceremony, we took some time to explore the venue for their creative portraits. Fran and Josh had a few special spots in mind: by the lake, out on the swing in the open field (thankfully, there’s a golf buggy for that!), and around the front of the barn for those timeless group photos.

Even before the evening celebrations began, it was clear that this was a day full of joy from start to finish. Every guest brought such warmth, and the energy never dipped for a second.
